Desde el blog de Carlos Vermut descubro el nuevo proyecto "Frases Encontradas" de Juan Berrio (uno de los ilustradores y dibujante de comics más interesantes de españa). Como muy bien dice Vermut, Juan Berrio és un mago, un jugón y como ejemplo para entender la belleza y plasticidad de los trabajos de Berrio echadle un vistazo a este increible video donde nos enseña que donde la mayoria de nosotros veria un sketchbook él ve... un edificio! Y su nuevo blog no és menos interesante, así que echadle un vistazo a como captura maravillosamente en papel frases encontradas.

From Carlos Vermut's blog I get to know about the new blog project "Frases Encontradas" ("Found Sentences") from Juan Berrio (one of the most interesting illustrators and comic book artist in Spain nowadays). As Vermut says, Berrio is a wizzard, a player, and as example to understand the plasticity and beauty of Berrio's way of working look at this incredible video where he shows us that where most of us would see an sketchbook, he sees... a building! And his new blog project is not less interesting, so check out how he captures beautifully in paper bits of overheard conversations.

TAKANO AYA / "Towards Eternity"

Hace seis años encontré un curioso librito titulado "Hot Banana Fudge". Cautivado por la delicadeza de los personajes situados en una mezcla surrealista de imagineria tradicional y ciencia ficción, poco podia imaginar que estaba descubriendo el peculiar trabajo de la artista japonesa Takano Aya . Hace poco en Dadanoies.net  encontré una entrevista/documental de Hélène Servaux donde la artista habla sobre sus pinturas e influencias. Dicho esto, disfrutad de las dos partes de este documental y visitad su página en la Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin para una buena selección de sus trabajos.

Six years ago I found a curious little book called "Hot Banana Fudge". Captivated by it's delicate characters set on a surrealistic mixture of traditional and Sci-Fi imagery backgrounds and situations, little I knew that I was discovering the peculiar work of Japanese artist called Takano Aya. I've recently found at Dadanoies.net a worth watching interview/documentary by Hélène Servaux where the artist talks about her paintings and influences. Having said that, enjoy both parts of the documentary and visit her page at Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin for a good selection of her works.

Directamente del feed de Fubiz disfruto de la maravillosa animación de la recién graduada de la Utrech School of Arts en Holanda, Lois van Baarle con música de Marcel Janssen. Parte de una trilogia inacabada para el proyecto web Trichrome.lois.net, esta és una encantadora jornada a través de la serenidad del color azul.

Straight from Fubiz's feed I enjoy the wonderful animation by the recently graduate at Utrecht School of the Arts in Netherlands Lois van Baarle with music and sound design by Marcel Janssen. Part of an unfinished trilogy for the web project Trichrome.lois.net, this is an enchanting journey through the serenity of the blue.

EXACTITUDES / Documenting Rotterdam's Street Scene

Siempre disfruto de proyectos fotográficos con una cierta repetición sobre un mismo tema (ver también el Typenesting Project). Esta vez desde los archivos del blog de Mark Pudleiner descubro Exactitudes (la contracción entre exacto y actitud) un proyecto desarrollado en Rotterdam por el fotógrafo Ari Versluis y el analista de perfiles Ellie Uyttenbroek desde octubre de 1994 que documenta la heterogeneidad y multiculturalidad de la escena callejera de la ciudad registrando la etiqueta de los sujetos en un mismo escenario, poses similares y un estrictamente vigilado código indumentario resulta en un estudio antropológico casi científico de la contradicción entre individualismo y uniformidad de la gente.

I always enjoy photographic projects with a certain repetition about the subject (see also the Typenesting Project). This time from the archive of Mark Pudleiner's blog I discover Exactitudes (a contraction of exact and attitude) a project developed by Rotterdam-based photographer Ari Versluis and profiler Ellie Uyttenbroek since October 1994 that documents the city's heterogeneous and multicultural street scene by registering the subject's dress codes in an identical framework with similar poses and strictly observed dress code, results in an almost scientific, anthropological record of people's contradiction between individuality and uniformity.

ALMACÉN MARABI / Mariela's Toys

Una vez más, la semana pasada, descubrí un nuevo e interesante sitio. Esta vez grácias a mi amigo Xavi, que estaba buscando un regalo para uno de sus sobrinos y me llevó a una bonita tienda-taller llamada el ALMACÉN MARABI. Escondida en las laberínticas calles del Born en Barcelona esta pequeña tienda está llena de preciosos y coloridos muñecos de fieltro. Todos ellos hechos por Mariela (algunos diseñados por su novio) y con la cual tuvimos una amigable charla sobre experiéncias compartidas. Como sea, visitad su blog o incluso mejor su tienda y disfrutad de la amplia variedad de muñecos que tiene y mantenedla presente si teneis que hacer algún regalo a vuestros pequeños (o no tan pequeños:).

Once again, last week, I got to discover a new interesting place. This time thanks to my friend Xavi, who was looking for a present for one of his nephews and took me to a nice craftshop called ALMACÉN MARABI. Hidden in the labyrinthian streets of "el Born" (Barcelona) this little shop is full of cute and colorful felt toys. All of them made by Mariela (some designed by her boyfriend) with whom we had a pleasant talk about common experiences. Anyhow, visit her blog or even better her shop to enjoy the wide variety of felt toys that she makes and keep her in mind if you have to do a present to your little ones (or not so little:).

ABRACADABRA Llibres per a Nens

És genial encontrar tesoros escondidos mientras vagabundeas por las calles de tu ciudad. Hoy caminando alrededor del mercado de Santa Caterina (en Barcelona) me he encontrado con ABRACADABRA, una nueva libreria especializada en cuentos para niños (en varios idiomas) pero donde también encontrarás una selecta variedad de materiales educativos, juguetes y cómics para jóvenes lectores. Además el espacio ha sido deliciosamente diseñado y decorado con una delicada pintura mural, una zona de lectura para niños (con pizarra incluida) e incluso un parking para cochecitos de bebé!. También están preparando actividades para los fines de semana como cuentacuentos con las que empezarán en breve (hace solo un més que han abierto sus puertas al público). En definitiva un sitio mágico y sorprendente que debeis visitar si teneis hijos o seguís siendo niños grandes con amor por los libros.

It's wonderful to find hidden treasures in your city while wandering the streets. Today walking around St. Caterina Market (in Barcelona) I found ABRACADABRA, a new bookshop specialized on children books (in many languages), but you will also find a nice selected variety of educative materials, toys and comic-books for early readers. Moreover the space it's been wonderfully designed and decorated with a delicate mural painting, a reading area for children (with black board) and a parking space for baby buggies!. They're also planning activities for the weekend like storytelling that hopefully will start soon (they just opened doors a month ago). Definitely a magic and surprising place that you must visit if you have kids or still have a kid inside with love for books.

DIE BAUPILOTEN / Play All Day

Es genial descubrir (Via Fabrik Project) el trabajo del estudio de arquitectura y diseño Baupiloten en Berlín.

El galardonado estudio (también aparece en el libro Play All Day : Design for Children) se especializa en innovativos proyectos de diseño sociales como escuelas y guarderias demostrando como la arquitectura puede jugar un importante papel en el desarrollo de la creatividad e interactividad entre los estudiantes y su entorno.

Bueno, después de echarle un vistazo a sus proyectos me gustaria ser uno de esos chicos alemanes para poder disfrutar realmente de ir a la escuela!

How great is to discover (via Fabrik Project) the work from Berlin based architecture and design studio Baupiloten.

The award-winning studio (also featured in the book Play All Day : Design for Children) specialises in innovative social design projects such as schools and kindergartens proving how architecture can play a significant role in the creative and interactive interplay between students and their environment.

Well, after checking out some of their projects I wish I could be one of those German kids to really enjoy going to school!

HERGÉ MUSEUM

Disculpas por la falta de posts ultimamente, pero queria postear algo que no fuera un video o relacionado con el medio. Finalmente hoy en mi Reader (via Notcot) he recibido una notícia interesante. El nuevo Museo Hergé abre oficialmente sus puertas en Louvain-la-neuve, una pequeña ciudad cerca de Bruselas, Bélgica. Algo que definitivamente deberás visitar si éres fan de Tintín y estás por la zona. Échale un vistazo al interior diseñado por el arquitecto Christian de Portzamparc, aquí.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. But I wanted to post something that wasn't a video or film related. Finally today on my Reader (via Notcot) received  an interesting new. The new Hergé Museum has officially open in Louvain-la-neuve, a small town near Brussels, Belgium. Something you must visit if you're a Tintin fan and you're nearby. Check out some more pictures of the space inside designed by architect Christian de Portzamparc. 

GARY Le Film

Gary és un encantador corto de animación (via Drawn) dirigido por Clemént Soulmagnon, Yann Benedi, Sébastien Eballard y Quentin Chaillet.

Un ejemplo perfecto de lo que mi compañero de SketchCrawls Dave y yo comentamos en nuestro primer SketchCrawl. La animación 3D nos muestra los resultadas más interesantes cuando se combina con  la estética de la animación 2D (en este caso, encantador estilo de libro infantil)

Perfect example of what my fellow SketchCrawler Dave and I discussed on our first SketchCrawl together. 3D animation shows the most interesting results when combined with 2D animation stetics (in this case, charming animated storybook style).
